Hopefully they will put something out that will be a single gfx solution with good ocing capabilties for ~$100. If the intel one for $100 didn't suck @ ocing, I'd bounce on it. I still might get it and save $40 over the ds3.

EDIT: To answer your question, I'm in the same boat as you.

What price? The new Abit looks really good; DFI is supposed to have some lanparty intel boards coming in a few months; if their anything like their AMD boards it should be great, only time will tell though. For the budget crowd (myself included, its crazy IMO to spend more on a board than the processor lol), right now we have the Gigabyte S3 and DS3 at $115 and $140 respectivly.

Looking for < $150.

DS3 seems to have a lot of difficulty with mem chips. I want t purchase on or before Oct 1, 2006.

Kind of hoping the DS3 will start shipping with the C-2 stepping of 965 chipset, and that it fixes the memory issues.

The 590 mobos will probably be delayed. DFI already announced their's would be delayed 3 months. nVidia has cancelled the C19 chipset in favor of the C55 chipset. They aint ready though. Hence the 3 months delay for DFI. As far as the 590 mobos goes I think this will force the other manufacturers to delay their 590s as well. In the meantime should see some more 965 and 570s come out.

If it's anything like DFI's previous ATI crossfire motherboards for the A64, the price of that board is going to be like $200+. Especially since no one else will be making a board based off that chipset. I hope I'm wrong.

Late next week now, we will have 965 C2 stepping boards also, decided to delay to get a couple of those in. ;)

ASUS P5W64 WS Pro. Will be pretty expensive, but should overclock like a monster.

Not yet... still have some bios massaging to do on the board... ;)

Any word on when C2 stepping boards will be available to consumers?

G965 boards are already out, the P965 C2 boards will start rolling out in the next two weeks, but it will be difficult to figure out what board has one or not unless the supplier changes the model numbers.

Thats sucks. I want a C2 P5B. I think the supposed 1600 strap allows in the region of 600FSB, with appalling mem timings.

Its a tradeoff to a certain degree, expect the bios to be tuned a little more before release the week after.

In the meantime - P5B-E

Yeah, I'm hoping I can lurk some forums and let others guinea pig the C2 stepping situation for me. Once I hear something like "my DS3 has a C2 stepping chip, I got it at XYZ retailer", I hope to buy from that retailer and get the C2 stepping.

Nothing special IMO. My C1 stepping P5B Deluxe runs my E6400 just fine and dandy.

Early results are showing the C2 Chipset revision to be better ocers, eliminate some of the ram compatibility issues and other bugs. If you pick the right parts off the bat or not planning to be a heavy ocer, you'll probably not notice any differences.

Personally, I plan to wait before making the C2D jump.

Any links to "early results"? I'm interested to see even if its just a thread on this or another forum.

Yes because I've seen people getting 4Ghz overclocks out of an E6400 on current available boards. Not many uses above 500Mhz FSB. Not to mention most of the newer BIOS revisions helped fix those memory issues people had.
