I've recently been looking for a newer TV for my room, and I really like Panasonic's TVs so far. I was looking around for a 27" flatscreen with component inputs, and I came across a couple nice Panasonics:

The CT-27SC14

and the

CT-27SL14

Now, is there much of a difference between the two besides the casing? I know the SL is the "newer" version, but does it justify the $50 extra I'd be paying for it? Otherwise the TVs look pretty identical, but I can't find many differences....
 
I'm certainly no TV expert, but I don't like Panasonics as much as some others (Toshiba or JVC). But I guess that is just personal preference. Can I ask why flat? Most reviews show the quality no better if not slightly worse than the very slightly rounded screens. Probably just personal preference again.

By the way, one of those Panasonics is on sale at Sears and if you do a moving sale, Sears always has a $30 off electronics coupon you can print.

If you want flat, I perfer this (as do many reviewers).

In my TV shopping, Walmart and Sam's Club generally offer the same TV but with one very minor change so that the model numbers are different and no one else price matches. That might explain the letter C in your question.
 
My Toshiba 27AF41 has been rock solid since I bought it. I think I bought it from Amazon for $275 with free shipping a while back.
 
The Tau is supposed to be like the wega that sony makes, its on sale @ circuity city right now so that is an option (only about $20 off though).

I bought a samsung 27" flatscreen from the target deal on fw a whiles back, i love it, clear picture, great sound and picture in my opinion, s-video & component inputs as well as a third full set of inputs in the front.
 
there really is not much point in component in on a tv that small. s-vid will look just as good. i would recommend you think about hd since 27 inch hds have been coming down a lot. the hd would make a lot more difference in picture quality. i bought a sony 27 flat a few years ago and its been great, picture is really nice for a non-hd. as for the tvs you are looking at, the newer version is a "tau" which generally have a really nice picture and are worth the difference.

The two TVs I posted are both Tau's 🙂

And I'm not sure about HD yet, not worth the extra money, I see HD 27" tvs going for nearly double what I'm looking to spend, not worth it considering the limited support there is for it right now
 
Nice, I'm not a member of Sam's or anything, but I'll keep an eye out for that model and see what I think about it. I've got a Samsung now (19") but it's nothing special so I can't draw many conclusions as to how one of their nicer TV's would look just yet 🙂
