Any trick to getting newegg to credit lowered price?

Picked up a mobo from them last weekend, the price has been lowered by $35 bucks!

This sucks as I only went with them because of thier excellent customer service.

I emailed them and they said they wouldnt help me because they're always changing prices.

Kind of sucks, I've never known a retailer who wont even credit for their own price change. I'd even take store credit.

I love newegg, they've done good for me in the past... any ideas? Has anyone ever gotten to them to do this?

Thanks!

They used to do this a long time ago.

In 2001 I paid $350 for a GeForce2 Ultra, and within days the price dropped to $300. I called them and they credited me the $50.

But I'm guessing they lost too much money from that because now they explicitly state on their website that they won't do this.

That being said, they do have a "if you're unhappy for any reason" return policy for the first so many days after a purchase (I think it's usually 30), so can't you just return it, get a full refund, and then buy it at the lower price?

RMA and Rebuy would be a good idea, but they'd get me for 15% restock fee, I'd also be out shipped.

Putting that together I'd probaby lose money on the deal.

Good suggestions though.. maybe I should try calling them?

Thanks again all!

Dear Forum Members,

Newegg.com monitors AnandTech and other web-based forums as a means of gauging the pulse of our audience. Although it is difficult to reply to every Newegg-related comment, we do our best to stay abreast of what is going on in the IT & CE communities.

Feel free to act as our freelance eyes and ears if you're ever surfing and catch a thread you think we should jump into ... simply drop us a line.

We love our customers and, of course, the AnandTech website. We crave total customer satisfaction so if/when you see us jumping into other threads here and there, now you'll know why!

Thanks for the postive response, folks.

Appreciative,
Newegg.com Webmaster

You sound like some kind of sheep. First, you buy there because of service above all else, including price, then whine because the price is too steep! You KNOW you could have purchased it elsewhere last week, for the same price you're trying to get now. If they do come through at this point, you can thank Anand for this forum, NOT NewEgg!

Hah. That's funny. My friend bought a Pentium 4 2.8C GHz CPU from Newegg for $1 due to a typo in an ad in PC Gamer Magazine. He complained enough, and they sold it to him. He mentioned the BBB, and avoiding getting a bad rep, they just took his credit card number and sent him the part. Pretty freakin' sweet in my opinion. :D

Nice to see someone from Newegg lurking the popular forums. Not to hijack the thread or anything, but when I ordered about $1100 worth of parts 2 weeks ago, and over $900 came from the same warehouse in California, why did you still charge me over $60 for shipping (overall shipping was around $75) when everything from that warehouse was in one box? (box was no more than 18"x24"x12")

He has posted in multiple threads before. In addition, Newegg is an advertiser in the hot deals forum. I am willing to bet the mod would have stepped in if someone was impersonating. Not to mention that I have never seen someone reply to one of the threads and say he gave bad info (ie bad extension, bad name, bad suggestion). I understand your nature to be skeptical but I am convinced. I am sure if you PM the mod they can clear it up. Please let us know their reply.
