Any tips on speeding up The Saboteur's graphics?

I have The Saboteur on PC. Graphics are a GTX 260. I have to run all settings on low and resolution at 800x600 to get it smoother, yet it still stutters a little (annoyingly) in the outside evironments. I have everything turned low, even viewing distance.

No other games are affected. Why couldn't they optimise the graphics for this game properly?!

I have the latest drivers. Any tips with this game? I want to play at a normal gaming res like 1680x1050 with decent quality settings like I do for all my other games.

I would be surprised if you got any performance gain by lowering resolution with a GTX 260, generally that would not make much difference.

In addition to what is likely a bad port, it sounds like you may need more RAM, but let us know the rest of your specs.

Sounds like something a patch would need to fix; a GTX 260 is a great card, and shouldn't have any issues running the game in 1680x1050 with mid-high detail. What CPU/RAM/other PC specs?

Win 7, 4 GB, 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo. The GTX 260 is indeed great, all my other games are brilliant maxxed out. Finished Modern Warfare 2 maxxed out recently. Sabateur is just unplayable. Feels like a great game, just not wanting to be smoother with my card.

Anyone else having the same issue (what card?)? I know there's a ATI issue out there. It just feels to me this is just the way the game is. They haven't optimised the graphics well enough. Probably just the game engine.

Saints Row 2 is horrific on my machine as well. Unplayable on max settings and yet still so ugly to look at.

When's the last time you installed new drivers for your videocard? Do you uninstall the old ones and clean them out using some type of driver cleaner?

Yup. My system's maintained quite well. No issues with other games. It did get better after the first level, but still slow. It's like when you move the mouse to turn the character and it responds slowly on screen with that little bit of lag. The graphics stutter a bit. Lowering the settings all down helps, but still its annoying.

I've just removed the game, went a few levels in but I can't play like this. Good game while it lasted. Maybe I'll reinstall if a better patch comes out.

... back to Modern Warfare 2 spec ops mode with maxxed settings!
