LT1 has a distributor and single coil, right? If so, it's much the same as a carbureted car. Although I'm not sure about how that distributor interacts with the ECM...are you sure they didn't put in an old-school HEI for triggering the MSD box? It's gotta be getting a signal from the distributor somewhere, then all it's doing is managing the coil.
In this particular case, though, it's PROBABLY serving to alter the ignition timing when the nitrous is flowing (heck of a pricey box for just delaying the coil's signal). I see no other reason why the nitrous system would interact with it. If you disconnect it and the ignition still works but the engine runs shitty, you probably just need to set base timing (physically rotate the distributor).
Is the ECM stock? Check engine light on? You might need to talk to some LT1 guys; perhaps this is common thing to patch in with a nitrous system on those cars.
