Talk to your Dad and tell him you want to try mulching for a while. It's better for your lawn anyway. I had the same problem. I got my grass really healthy, and it grew so fast if I only cut it once a week it clogged up the discharge chute. I tried mulching instead and it was much easier. I still have to cut twice a week, but I don't mind so much since I don't bag it anymore.

Make sure you're running the motor at full throttle. More RPM = better expulsion of the clippings. The mower is designed to be run at full throttle.

The other good advice you got here is;

Mow when dry.
Mow more frequently. The shorter the clippings, the less likely it'll clog.
Sharpen the blade.

You may want to clean the underside of the deck to remove caked on clippings.

Mulching and letting the clippings fly is the best advice. Hire a lobbyist to convince the family of the environmental advantages of this. ;)

Take it back to Sears and replace it with a decent mower! BTW, ask your parents when was the last time they saw a landscaper bagging clippings? For that matter, when's the last time you saw landscapers show up at a customer's site more than once per week? It pays to use decent equipment.

Its a Craftsman made by Honda. It is a very good mower.
Honda would never use such a retarded discharge arrangement for the exact reason the OP is having problems. It's a STUPID Sears design, with a Honda engine.

I never understood why people bag anyway, if you mow often enough the yard is healthier when you let it re-fertilize itself.

My friend bought the Honda version not the Sears. Its the exact same thing. The Sears mower is just a rebranded Honda mower.

Get over your anti-Sears attitude.
