I have a 32" Sony Wega that I need to move downstairs. Movers are not an option since the cost would be greater than the value of the TV. I was planning on renting a appliance dolly and hoping for the best. Any tips on reducing damage as it gets bumped down about 15 stairsteps.

do the same thing you did to get it upstairs.

you could also lower it out the window on a rope.

I suggest a complex series of rope and pulleys (block and tackle) hanging perilously out of a window. Make sure the supporting arm structure is as flimsy as possible. Have your most incompetent neighbor/friend/family member control the rope, and tell them to " let 'er rip! ".

In all honesty, you and friend should be more than capable of carrying it down a flight of stairs.

I got up the stairs witha friend because it was in a box with handles on the side. Weighs 165 and all my friends have left town.

I'm so glad I never have to do that again :p

Moved a 36" wega twice and a 34" one for a neighbor :(

I wouldn't mess with a dolly. Slide it down if you can't handle it with someone helping you.

Lift with your legs, not your back.

WRONG, the proper way to lift a TV is to bend over with your legs straight like you're stretching, grab the bottom tightly, and lift up, you need to build those back muscles! If you can't lift it like this then you are weak, if you disagree with me, you're a moron.

on my last move, I had a 32" Toshiba tube tv that weighed a ton...one of the movers (who was about maybe 5' 6" and weighed about 160 or so) took the TV, lifted it up and over his head so the screen was touching the base of his neck and carried it out the door, down two flights of stairs and into the van...:Q

I thought to myself that I would be getting a new TV if he dropped it but he made it...

I moved funiture summers between college.

You wouldn't believe how strong you get, and FAST.

That being said, juggling a TV and bouncing it down stairs is not a good idea. There is no reason why two people can't move this TV with ease.

Yesterday I helped move the same TV (32" Wega). It's a monster...I'd say it'd probably take 3 people to move it down a flight of stairs.

Wuss. I did a 36" TV up the stairs by myself. Of course I'm 6'4", so I have long arms (I wouldn't recommend this- thought I popped a nut when I was done).

32" shouldn't be that bad to lift.
