32" shouldn't be that bad to lift.
The Wega weighs >150 lbs.

I have a 220lb. 36" HD Wega, it took four of us to move it down three flights of stairs. But that was two small guys and two medium sized guys. I would say two really big guys, or three medium sized guys are enough. It's not so much the weight but the size and front heavy weight distribution that makes it awkward. Just be patient and don't try to use a box or dolly or anything.

Aw come on, you can handle that yourself! I weight about 120lbs and I can lift at least that much. Not for long distances, mind you, but I can do it. Working in a warehouse for even just a few months can build up some muscle. My 70lb monitor felt a lot lighter by the end of the summer. :)

Have you got neighbors? Even if you don't know them, maybe just ask one of them to give you a hand, and offer a coke/beer/$5-10 or something. Just kindly make sure they know that if they drop it, they pay for it.

The other option, which I might use, would be to tape a piece of cardboard to the top, put the TV upside-down at the top of the stairs, and slide it down. Walk in front of it as you ease it down.
I suggest it being upside down, because the bottom likely has support feet or other odd shapes which could impede easy movement down stairs. The top is probably flat. The cardboard is there to prevent scuffing.

In any event, there's always a way of moving heavy things yourself if you get creative. I was able to lift a large chest freezer up onto a custom-made dolly by myself. It took a 4ft 2x4, and several smaller 2x4's. Lift it up a bit with the long board as a lever, slide small piece underneath. Go to other side, and repeat. Continue until it's high enough to fit the dolly underneath.

I've also managed to move a pellet furnace weighing 290lbs. Mechanical advantage. If it doesn't exist, do something that provides it.

I have the same TV. it's murder. Heavy and awkwardly big.

I found it easier moving the 36" wega with just two people rather than 3-4 due to how lopsided it is with weight and the bulk of the thing made a third person on the screen side a liability.

do you have a cheap plastic snow sled? wrap the tv in a blanket, place it in the sled and slide it down the stairs. Get creative!

I'd just carry it down the stairs myself... but then I'm not a normal guy. :p

Two guys should be able to carry it down the stairs without problem. No need to over think this.

The Wega is big and bulky and weighs 165 pounds. I have no friends here in town to depend on for help. I also have an Umbilical hernia so I will need to take it easy with this so it wont get strangulated. I am sure that I could get the set down with an appliance dolly but I am concerned that Axis yolk will get screwed up as its bumping down the stairs. I am also thinking of strapping it to a wood palette and try sliding it down the stairs.

I have a 32" Sony Wega, and I would recommend using three people to move it. Not only does the TV weigh about 200 pounds, but it's really awkward to hold since most of the weight is in the front of the TV. You'll want two people on each side, and one in the middle on the side of the screen to catch the TV when it tries to roll screen side down.

That being said, juggling a TV and bouncing it down stairs is not a good idea.

Sure if you lose grip! Very bad for the set but definitely awesome to hear!

Like a bull through a china shop! :D

I bought a 32" flat-screen Toshiba CRT two and a half years ago. I just got out of grad school and was in a new apartment with no friends or acquaintances in the area. I lived on the second floor, and there was an additional half flight of stairs between the sidewalk and first floor.

I rented a van from Budget, went to Best Buy to pick up the TV, and then Costco to pick up a queen-sized bed. I parked next to the curb and carried the TV up the stairs. I stopped to rest a few times on the way. I think it was spec'd at 160-170lbs in the box, and I come in at about 210lbs. :D

If I had to do it again, I'd probably unpack the TV from the box and wrap it in a blanket before carrying it up. The weight was less of a problem; I had more difficulty trying to handle and grip the giant box. It's easier to wrap my arms around just the TV without the box.

If I had to do it again, I'd also probably not opt to pick up the bed on the same night. It was a major victory for me to get that TV upstairs, but then having to go back for the boxspring and mattress... well, that sucked.

I've moved since then. The movers wrapped the TV in blankets and tape and then built a box around it. Then two guys (each about the same weight as the TV) carried it down the stairs for me.

This scenario is one of the biggest reasons I never upgraded from my 27" CRT at 90 pounds. I can move it myself, but it's not fun. I always grip from the glass side, where most of the weight is.

I just kept my recliner close to the tv. 8 feet max with a 27" tv.

My 34 inch 16:9 WEGA weighs in at just about 200 lbs & I had it delivered to my house by Best Buy, largly as a result of bringing home my other TV myself, a 36 inch 4:3 Toshiba that weighed about 250lbs. Getting that puppy inside by myself required backing my wifes SUV up to the front steps & sliding the GIANT box up a couple of 12 ft long 4x8 planks into the house, where I un-boxed it & did the same thing to get it up onto the massive oak table it sits on to this day... it all worked but I was in pain afterwards!

Now I pay other people to do crap like that for me! ;)

I carried my 32" Wega up two flights of stairs myself to move into school a few weeks back, and I don't even consider myself all that strong.

Two people should be able to move it without issue.
