Any tips on getting a dented dust cap out?

I've read that some people have had success with a vacuum cleaner to try to suck it back into place. I've never had to try it though... and probably never will due to my particular speakers 😛

Last resort, you might be able to get it back out with a pin?

Duct tape and a stick.

Wrap duct tape around stick (pencil), leave some sticky side, stick and pull.

done.

Do NOT use a vacuum cleaner. Or you could remove the driver and see if you can push it through from the other side. Depends on the driver though.

I dont think the sound quality should be affected. If that is the case, put the fabric grills back on and forget about it. if you are bothered by the thought of the dented dust cap (as you would be probably if you knew about a stuck bright pixel on an LCD screen), then supposedly, you can take some tape and try to pull it out that way. Be careful though, a dented woofer should be OK acoustically, but a woofer with a hole would be disastrous!

You could use gum too not carefree though because it doesn't stick 🙁
Spidey has the right idea, I would think my vacuum cleaner would pull the dust cap OFF!!!

Pucker up.

The only way I've had any luck at this is by literally sucking the thing out myself.

With larger dustcaps, a dent can cause some undesired resonance, a lot like a whizzer cone. This is a bad thing.

If the driver has a vented pole piece (most small ones may have them without a screen in place) you can push it back out - albeit gently! - with a small dowel.

Which is why I suggest you suck it out from the front.

Yes, it's embarassing. Yes, it works.
