Any tips negotiating with Comcast?

I didn't either.... then out of the blue, 4 years later, Comcast comes back to me telling me that they own the modem but have been improperly not billing me for it. 😵

took me a couple weeks of yelling into the phone before that finally got resolved.

I have had them charge for a modem though when they should not be. Took about 3 phone calls to get that removed.
 
hah on hold with comcast right now. bill jumped up $20. trying to get that lowered, but most likely wont be successful. They actually called my bluff earlier and cancelled my service. ah well
 
tell them you're cancelling. ignore the bullshit protests and tell them you're cancelling, ask to speak to reclamations.

That's how you get free shit.
 
I'm jumping ship from Comcast tomorrow. Have ATT scheduled to come out and set us up.

Neither company is ideal, but I'd rather settle with the lesser of the two evils.
Good luck getting good service from AT&T. Next door neighbor left Comcast, switched to Dish Network, then Direct TV, then AT&T. They had enough and waited for their contract to end. Switched back to Comcast last week. 😉

Tried AT&T HSI myself for a year $24.99/month for 3mpbs/1mpbs.... sucks... ^_^

Since I've had Comcast, there have been 3 separate occasions where service was interrupted for 2-3 days at a time. I never had such issues with AT&T at my previous location.

Service may vary depending on location.
 
I've also had an occasion where retentions offered me an upgrade and lower price but I never receive the upgrade. Then I was stuck calling and asking what happened only to be told they can put it in for an extra charge. I kept calling retentions until they pushed it through.

Their packages are way too expensive and I don't even have hd cable.
 
I wouldn't negotiate with terrorists but if you are forced to, call them rather than online chat or email. These domestic terrorists like taking hostages, make it clear to them that you will nuke the account with them first chance you get if they don't let you choose something more fitting to your needs. This way you have given the agent an excuse to give you a better deal without taking heat from his superiors.

I was directly responsible for calling Comcast's regional and corporate offices as well as various executives a few years back and finally getting them to call me and eventually my town back to get them back to the negotiating table to flesh out a franchise agreement with the town to finish out the half done build-out they had in our neighborhood.

Comcast... yes, the much lesser of two evils. I'll happily take 50/10 300GB cap + TV for $50/month versus the 6/768k 150GB cap + local phone service for ~$70/month AT&T was giving me any day of the week.

You were lucky to get that rate. I only got that when I first signed up with them. I used to just have their business internet at my apartment and no cable. But that's a contract only basis. Each time I would move I would call to cancel residential service so I could get in as new but they would just move it for me so I never got a deal without spending hours on the phone with the retention department.

That deal will be up here in the next month or so unfortunately. I don't really want to drop TV, but if it's not "cheap enough" I will.

Thing is I still have the contact info for our local sales reps. Both residential and business. I'm pretty sure that going through them will give me a far better deal than "calling in". Regardless, I'd still be willing to pay $50/month for just the internet versus what we were paying for AT&T. Especially since my home-rolled VOIP costs me only a few bucks a month.

This apartment complex doesn't have a rep so I have to call in every 6 months. They are more adamant to give deals to tripple play subscribers than people like us who only want internet and tv and have no need for a phone line.

I have a HDHomeRun Prime. As long as whatever package I have gives me at least the basic channels and a free CableCARD, anything else is cake.
 
Yea in my area they dint give you cable cards. Everything they run through their boxes don't use them. Unless they changed them now, I'm not sure. I was considering a tv tuner for my pc but I don't watch tv much at all.
