Any tips negotiating with Comcast?

That's not a deal at all. That's the standard shit they give out. I'm currently on that plan.

And the other thread had better replies too. And it's locked thanks to you.

I don't think that you're going to get under $120 a month for the Triple Play package without dropping the premium channels and just getting the Basic SD channel Digital package.

Don't blame him. I'm the one that reported it.

I generally call Comcast every 6-12 months (depending on when my "package discount" runs out) and simply say I'm looking for cheaper options/may cancel and they have always repacked to a "discount rate." Generally always takes my package back under 100 bucks. I have a good number of friends who do the same. I thought this was pretty common knowledge?

I use to do this, I guess I had it on my file that I did it all the time because when I asked for a discount, they said they had none available. When I threatened to cancel, they called my bluff. So I canceled.

i just get 50/25 internet from Optimum. You can get your basic channels with an HD antennae. That didn't work out for me because it's not always reliable especially on ground floor units, which way it faces, topography, etc...

However get yourself a nice Roku box. You can use it just to stream media from your pc if you don't want to pay to use services like Hulu or Netflix. You can also use it to rent movies from a bunch of services from Amazon and like 7 others. New DVD releases in HD from .ike $2.99-$5.99. Also if the HD antennae does not work for you, there is a service called Aereo that works on Roku. It's 8 bucks a month it gives you all your local HD channels plus a bunch more and you can pause tv and it comes with 20 hours of DVR in the cloud.

That's what I've done the last 3 months and it's just fine.

I'm kind of set on getting digital economy cable tv. It has the cable networks I care about (food, comedy central) and no ESPN which annoys the bejesus out of me.

and of course there are no advertised bundles with that one in it.

But for that plus internet, how much should I expect to pay?

okay so i just called them...

yikes, talk about annoying.

so there's this little thing called a "service protection plan" which covers visits by the cable guy and costs 4 bucks a month.

wtf is with that?

should be free

So, how did you do? Not good, I'd imagine, if they think that you'll gullible enough to pay for that line service crap.

$79.99 + tax.

Lube not included.

I know with the 3 times i've had to call Verizon FIOS regarding the contract expiring, they won't give you any offers to retain you, maybe a free month of HBO or something but won't ever cut my bill by more than $20 for more than a period of say 3 months.

The best solution is to have your wife (or someone else in your family) sign up as a NEW subscriber to get that intro rate of triple play for $100/month. yeah you're going to have to go through the hassle of returning your old router/ set top boxes and get a whole new set, and maybe be out of service for half a day. But in my opinion this is the most sure way to get your rates back to the introductory ones.

I'm jumping ship from Comcast tomorrow. Have ATT scheduled to come out and set us up.

Neither company is ideal, but I'd rather settle with the lesser of the two evils.

I used to pay like $115 a month for digital preferred non hd and 25mb down internet. I called retentions directly and told them fios had a better deal. They gave me hbo plus Showtime for 6 months, 50mb internet as well for 89.99 + tax.

Fios isn't available in my apartment anyway but I call and ask to cancel every 6 months. Many times they won't lower your bill if you ask.

I've had the guy on the phone tell me I can remove digital preferred and just keep 20mb internet and the Bill would have been higher, what a retard.

Okay so what is that shit about renting a modem. $8/mo.

I hear conflicting things. Sometimes they let you bring your own, other times even if you bring your own you're still slapped with the fee.

I purchased one used off of Amazon. Come to find out, it belonged to Comcast and Amazon had no right to sell it.

🙁

Lol..looks like you bought it off of a user on Amazon that possibly stole it from Comcast. I got mine new from Amazon and it had no issues registering with comcrap.

I bought a modem used through a local Craigslist seller. I just insisted that he provide some kind of sales receipt.

I didn't either.... then out of the blue, 4 years later, Comcast comes back to me telling me that they own the modem but have been improperly not billing me for it. 😵

took me a couple weeks of yelling into the phone before that finally got resolved.
