Getting modern versions of MS Office to install and activate is often an interesting experience, but I'm having trouble activating a customer's copy of Office 2019 Professional Plus (which I believe they received through the company they work for).
I've tried a few ways:
1 - the standard (AFAIK) technique of signing on to the customer's Microsoft account, looking in order history / subscriptions, nothing in either place.
2 - the customer had downloaded an web installer previously for it, so I ran that, it installs fine via download, but then when I run say Word it shows the old-style (ie. pre 2013) activation window of 'would you like to activate over the Internet or over the telephone?' without asking for a product key, then fails with a code when googled says 'invalid product key'. I can't find an option in Word to enter a product key.
3 - Go to setup.office.com, sign in, feed the customer's product key, install. Same result as the second method.
4 - use my offline installer for Office 2019 H&S which installs, correctly asks for a product key to activate, says "hey, this is for pro plus, shall I install that instead?", does that, then fails the same way as the second method.
Hopefully someone here has more experience with corporate-sourced Office licences and can help.
- edit - this time around if I go into the 'Account' screen in Word, it gives me the option to activate via MS account but says there isn't an office licence attached to that account.
