i've been able to see how many is what class on each server.

i really do not want to be a popular class. and it appears the warlock and priests are the lowest on both servers i might be moving too.

i'll def give the warlock a try due to this. looks like gnomes and dwarves are low across the board too... looks like i'll be playing a gnome or dwarf then!

warlocks are liked in groups because they can soulstore the priest and distribute healthstones to group members. They also have the curse of recklessness that prevents enemies from fleeing when at low health so he wont run off and bring friends with him back.

If you are going to continue with paladin, you would do best to start learning how to be a backup healer in groups now. Don't be the paladin that never heals anyone and constantly has full mana. Everyone hates those guys. You also should start learning how to keep all the enemies on you. Best I can tell, the only way to do this is to spec for the AOE damage aura.

There's a reason not many poeple play warlocks. At the moment they are simply not a very good class, and only useful in limited situations. However, Blizz has a history of not letting any truly gimply class stay that way for long, so maybe they would fix the class by the time you levelled up.

From your input in this thread, I think you might like playing a warrior. A warrior would duo very nicely with your wife's priest, they destroy rogues in pvp, and they are a necessity (along with priests) in higher level instances. Also, plate armor looks awesome. I think night elf warriors are the coolest looking characters in the game.

The downside to a warrior is that they aren't that great in solo pvp, especially below lvl 40. Warriors are very gear dependent, and therefore suffer at the low levels against the caster classes who are not gear dependent. When you start to get good equipment at the high levels things even out quite a bit. Also, some of the pvp deficiency can be overcome by taking engineering, which will put a lot of useful tools at your disposal.

the limit of having 8 debuffs at a time makes warlocks basically useless in high end raid content

Paladins are a lot like Bards from EQ1 for the group "songs" or auras, they use. The seal of command is an important spell for the paladin, for it gives the user haste. I also think that the stun Paladins get is a very important thing when grouping up.

Honestly doubt it.
I am not a hardcore player, but my wife is/was and she was in Afterlife in EQ.
Anyone griefs me, you'd be hunted down by the very best..
the very best across ANY EQ/WoW server

Fires of Heaven and Afterlife ect have few equals in the MMORPG world.

I'll try a warrior to then.
I've tried almost all of them now, even have a troll shaman which is very cool.

I just want an unpopular class/race. So will def give a warlock a chance up to lvl20.
In my experience, most ppl who already have their main @60 wont lvl up a warlock if they get boosted to become something awesome or highly useful.

So they will prob end up being very useful in raids/groups. But by then all the players will have their main in one of the overcrowded classes, which will be good for me if I play a warlock.

So I'm very highly likely to play a warlock to 60, considering.
It will prob be between the warrior (considering my wifes priest and rogue killing ability) and warlock.

I have tons of toons on alot of servers now, but I've narrowed down my server to one of 2.. depending on what the wife wants to do.

She has old guildies on Blackhand, but I have a buddy on Hellscream.

Heres the differences:
Blackhand 3:1 alliance/horde ratio... HORRIBLE. And 18K pop.
Hellscream 1.5:1, 16K pop.

I want lowest pop and best ratio.. and for CST servers Hellscream appears by far the best.

So hopefully I can get her on Hellscream, screw her guildies... she'll make new friends on HS. The ratio just kills it.
I'm imagining what that server is going to be like once Battlegrounds comes out and theres no massive Alliance nerfage.

I'm having an absolute blast playing a rogue.

There are times when I'm playing and I will say to myself, "I'm having an absolute blast playing a rogue." Seriously! Just a big ole grin!

Being able to crit as much damage as someone 10 levels above you is fun.
Being able to pickpocket extra stuff is fun.
Being able to stun the living crap out of stuff is fun.
Being able to just open the door to scarlet monestary without the key was fun.

Being able to get into places where you are so absolutely in over your head and will die in a moment if something catches you is the biggest rush ever.

It's just plain fun because you can do things that no other class can.

Go find a decent WoW site and lookup these two skills: eviscerate, and cold-blood.

ooo man do I love playing a rogue.

Being a priest and doing drive-by buffs is probably a close second :D

Dying in 3 seconds in an instance because my high damage hits take all the agro from the tank...oh wait, that's not fun :p

Getting smacked by a warrior's overpower every time I dodge while doing less than half damage because of their high armor, thats not fun either. :)

Do you hear that feeble tink, tink, tink? That's the sound of daggers hitting 7k armor.

A rogue will do sufficient damage through your 7k armor, let's be real here.

well, the only thing that is wanted at end game anyway is mage, warrior, and priest.

Umm... little fyi... rogues do plenty of damage against armored classes... just for example last nite was fighting garr (mc rock elemental aka plenty of armor) ... my usually round was 4 backstabs almost all for over 800 ... a feint... then an evis for usually +1300 ...

thats not counting regular hits and poison...
and btw... i don't die in high end instances... but thats because i know how to control agro (its easy you hit a button) and i can bandage... plus dodge ftw... and of course in a tight spot i know a healer has my back ...

granted... this is all pve... and it was in a raid...
but.. um... pvp ... i'm sure they have plenty of time to hear those clinks... because they are prob stunned ;)

this is why i hate rogues, i just want them dead.

always cocky ect... i hope blizzard hits them upside the head with the nerf bat so hard.

but mostly its not rogues fault, but ppl who take this game so seriously.. listen to both of you.

i'd play a rogue and be uncocky, but i'd rather not be a b*tch class that everyone else plays.

i'd rather be like that uber warrior that proves everyone wrong that warriors are gimped.
gosu?

that was me in EQ, early on the necro got hit so hard with the nerf bat no one wanted to play one.. they wanted to "win" all the time.. so they'd play classes like the rogue in WoW, but in EQ of course.

as i lvled up my "pathetic", "undesirable" necro.. all of the sudden ppl were like "shat! i had no idea necros were so powerful and versatile"

it was the best, and there were few lvl60 necros comparatively because few were willing to lvl up to toons to 60.. maybe 40 or so.. but usually stopped there to concentrate on high lvl raiding with their main.

thats my prediction for a warlock.
they wont always be jokes, and by that time.. everyone will have lvl'd up too high on the b*tch classes to go back and create one. but it will be high in demand.

rogue here.

I played a paladin for awhile. eventually, it just got frustrating. no effective method of pulling from a distance and their low dps made them kinda boring for me.

I quit my paladin and rerolled a rogue and love it. definitely better for solo'ing, IMO. 1-1, I can easily take out mobs that are 3 levels higher than I am. I get destroyed if even yellow mobs bring along some friends, but sprint + vanish helps to get me out of most bad situations.

If you want to kill rogues, warlock certainly isnt the class to do it, especially if you're going to be alliance. Undead rogues can counter the warlock's only line of defense (fear), and have them nearly dead before the stuns wear off.

ROFL!!! Oh man that's hilarious. I hate to use this term but: Noob!!

*SQUISH* do you hear that? That's the sound of my daggers going through 7k armor like butter.

Rogues don't even notice your armor dude. You have more armor in your shield than I have in my whole outfit. You think blizzard isn't going to balance that somehow?

I just had a duel against a guildmate last night with around 5700 armor. It was over in about 8 combo points total.

Silly warriors.

Pally's on the other hand are a lot tougher. The armor ain't tough it's the multiple full health bars. It's too easy to slip up and let them sneak a invuln+full heal in. They can drag a fight out and the longer the fight the worse the rogues chances.

now to correct you... i was just correcting the misconception that rogues do no damage and die easily... its just silly... and it bugs the hell out of me when people say they that they don't have a place in high level instances... and as far as pvp... (which as i will yet again say... i'm not particular good at) rogues are one of the best pvp classes... if not the best... but as with any class it does depend on skill and so forth...
want proof... ask most high level chars why they rolled a rogue as their alt... its because the battlegrounds are coming soon... (just so you know.. in my guild of 53 60's almost half have rogue alts for that reason)

and im done...

A chapter of my guild playing Alliance on a Normal server (we're also horde on a PvP server) has a little 5-paladin group playing through the game together. They recently cleared Blackfathom Depths (BFD) without needing to be overleveled.

I predict they will hit the wall when they get to Lyceum in BRD, but maybe I place too much confidence in their ability counter for lack of high DPS contributers. RFD's AoE pulls might be tricky if the AoE pulls weren't so undead heavy.

heh, you've had your butt handed to you by a rogue several times eh? Humble pie tastes so bitter doesn't it?

But seriously, dude it's no biggie. Rogues are supposed to be good at PvP. There's also a certain "evil bastard" mentality that goes with them. I've always played a Rogue/thief in RPGs ever since the Ultima days.

If it makes you feel better we get to sh1t ourselves on occasion when stealth fails in the middle of pack of mobs. We're only one step up from wearing cloth even at level 60.

mmm tasty humble pie mmm mmm good!

youve obviously never played a skilled hunter, or a shadow priest for that matter... ive never lost to an equal level rogue with my priest or my hunter...

ever...

in fact ive beaten many rogues +2 and +3 lvls higher than me with my hunter... rogues are pretty much the only class i can beat with my hunter on a regular basis...
