Any tips before i format

yep. as long as you only plan on having one OS (ie not linux or anything) the onscreen instructions should be fine, and format the whole thing using NTFS.
 
make sure you've backed up any data you need to cd's/external/whatever...and dont forget to make sure you have all the discs you need to install hardware as well. if not, download and save them externally first.
 
Download Backrex to backup your DUN/email

make sure your jumpers are on correctly [master/slave/cable select/only drive]
partition [if using FAT - do this in FDISK] [if installing as a system drive on XP, just follow instructions as suggested by Whatever]
format
