Any thread in Video forum with 'ATI' or 'NVidia' in the title should automatically be moved to P&N.

While this doesn't happen in every thread, they can easily turn into hijacked crap.

Such as this thread.. Could have ended after the first reply and the OP wouldn't have lost any useful information.

While I don't mind reading speculation, drivel, personal attacks, blind faith in a company/person. (It is actually entertaining to read people get so agitated over the stupidest things)
I would prefer those threads be in a forum that I already know is a wasteland, not a forum I am expecting to read information about video cards.

Any input is highly appreciated.

I assume you're not being serious, but if they moved those threads, there would be very very little left in Video, unfortunately. There can be some useful info in those threads, but the signal to noise (flames) ratio is WAY too low...

You assumed correctly 😉

I guess I am just confused as to why people are so passionate about video cards. Even the AMD v. Intel flame wars don't get that bad. The only hypothesis I have is video cards are slightly phallic, and the flamers have to defend their e-penis?

Either way, it is good to know I am not the only one who has noticed this.

Same here. 😕

Video has become the shame of AT i'm afraid...far too many of those flamefests should (and would have been in any other forum) have been locked far earlier...

there's one thread where they actually discuss whether one user making an analogy of a gay person banging his father was below the belt, all the while ripping into each other..Video wtf?

Not sure if this was directed at me for the simple fact that I took the time to post this in FI, but if it was I can assure you I have not participated in these flame wars. I have stuck to lurking the video forum for some time, mostly because people seem more concerned with company loyalty than video technology. If not I apoligize, and definitely see your point of view, I have owned video cards from many different companies, and try to pick the best bang-for-buck card atm. That's what free market is all about, right 🙂

Lately I have been a big fan of OpenGL which is not supported too well by my my current card. (Radeon 9600XT) If only game developers would follow suit. LOL

I guess it is another reason to go for consoles, no flamewar BS when trying to find info about graphics. I have been searching around for info about H.264, but have gotten used to skipping over the Anandtech 'Video' forum because it seems to mostly be filled with flamewars as of late. Must be an advantage if being poor, no company loyalty, just looking for the most excitement from my very hard earned dollar. 😛

Edit: many spelling mistakes, and grammatical mistakes, but I am only a 22 yr. old HS graduate. 😛
