Any temporary remote net connection options?

Hey guys, a friend of mine has a vacation home in FL and he just installed a Smart TV which is asking for internet connection. Since he only visits that home a few times per year and only for a week or so each time, does not make sense for him to pay monthly fee foe regular net. Does he have any options for only when he's there please?

I was thinking of using his phone as a mobile hot spot but i am guessing the TV might need faster speed?

Streaming 1080 HD is only about 5 Mbps, so turn the smartphone into a hotspot should be OK. Or do what JackMDS suggested if the Smart TV supports it.

The real problem is what kind of subscription he has for his smartphone?

Video streaming consumes a lot of bandwidth, either using his smartphone, TV or PC.

Agreed, he said the mobile hotspot on his phone works but he prefers if he can have a device like a router or similar just for the net connection for his laptop and Smart tv.

Then buy a used hotspot device, don't rent.

And buy data pass for the duration he stays there.

Sell the device after he leaves his vacation home.

Yes, just spoke to the bud, he agrees and is already with tmobile so he will inquire about the pay-as-you-go or pre-paid data plans for this purpose. That should do it, appreciate the help. Happy Holidays to you guys!

Most of the time my answers (as the one above) are of Technical Nature.

The truth is that terms Like "The Best", "Future Proof", etc. are in these times just words with no Functional Meaning.

Hundred year ago when Ford invented the Line manufacturing pf cars and no one else did it. If where not rich and wanted a car you bought a Ford, there where not other widely available options.

Today the Best Solution is saturated with multi variants and most of them are Self personal variables.

So.... School the "Ignorant", and then let they take it for here, if they are too lazy to l;earn it is their expense.

First rule of Bandwidth... for consumers clients, Unlimited is never really Unlimited.

If One goes somewhere for short period of time, One has to evaluate how much he/she will consume in GB and then choose whatever solution they will be comfortable with..
