I recently went out and bought my 3Com DSL modem, and after talking to a Telus rep, was told I would be up and running by Friday (Dec1). As of right now, I still have a red light on the 'DSL' LED.
I have called Telus numerous times. Saturday, I was told that the 'rackwork' had yet ot be confirmed - so probably wasn't done. I was told that the people who do rackwork aren't in on weekends, so at very best, I would be hooked up on Monday. I was given a Teir2 tech ticket. They would contact me.
Today I called, and was told that the rackwork had been completed, and that everything on their end was completed. I was given another ticket, and they will contact me (while I'm at school probably) on Monday.
While it sure seems to me that this is a problem on their end, and not mine, I am not entirely sure. I just want to verify that I have done everything to ensure that my end is set up correctly.
The DIP switches on the back are set to off/on/on/off (as per the manual). The MDI/X switch is pushed in. I have reset the modem numerous times (holding down the reset button and power cycling). Usually, I do this without the LAN hooked up - as I want to have my @home internet till this one is working.
Each time, the POWER LED has been green.
ADSL LED has been red.
If connected, LAN LED is green, if not connected, it says unlit.
I do not have the filters attached to the phone line that the DSL modem is using. They ARE on all my other phones. I hve tried different cables, none have worked fo rthe modem - all have worked on phones.
Am I doing something wrong?
