I'm looking for a good pair of polarized wraparounds. Not too dark, as these would be for both indoor AND outdoor use, mostly indoor.

NYC has been having continuous brownouts for the last 3 or 4 weeks, just like they did last year before the blackout. I predict it will happen again - the power substations probably don't have the latest MS RPC patches LOL. These brownouts make the flourescent lights flicker like crazy. This combined with the fact that most of the 3000K bulbs in the office have been replaced with a much bluer color temperature and halogen track lighting has been added makes it quite painful to keep my eyes open without shades. Most people don't notice it -- I can't deal with it.

The wraparound factor is important because the peripheral light is worse than direct in terms of flicker.

I never thought I'd need a pair of $95 sunglasses - I'd always survived with drug store specials - until I bought a pair of Oakley Minute silver/ice non-polarized lenses. I don't think I can ever go back to regular cheap sunglasses again. I love my Oakleys, and they're mint, even after two years of use.

Oakley Juliet are great, but I think it's geared more toward sports/being active instead of sitting at a desk. Best sunglasses I've ever owned, not cheap though.

big fan of Smith eyewear... I've had 3 pairs, and I don't think I'd buy any other kind of sunglasses.

Oakley, Smith, Maui Jim, Spy....
Basically any one of those brands, or any big brand for that matter, will have good quality lenses. Just pick a style you like.
