Any suggestions on how to hide my PSU wires?

I've just purchased a new power supply to replace my Enermax (still working). I like how on the Enermax that they have a mesh wrap around the atx power cable. Is there anything similar to this that I can buy retail?

should be able to find cable wraps at about any hardware store, esp somewhere selling car type stuff. probs a few computer bits places, esp those who flog case modding stuff.

you can buy split plastic looming at pepboys or any other car place. the smaller power cables that go to ur cdrom, hd, etc. can be covered with 1/4 inch split loom. for the power cable that goes to ur motherboard u can use half inch diameter. i got 10 feet of 1/4 inch black tubing for 4.99 at pepboys. comes in different colors too...all i can recall is blue and black tho. but u can always spray paint it to whatever color u want...ive seen a couple ppl do it. all in all a cheap and easy mod that keeps ur case looking clean.

other stuff like nylon looming is more expensive and requires you to take off the molex connectors in order to get the loom on. the split tubing stuff is the fastest and easiest way imo. hope this helps.

I like the Spiral wrap cable tie stuffs from radioshack. They wrap it up nice and tight, just like my girlfriend 🙂 Although i wouldn't reccomend it for smaller bits of wires like from 4pin to 4pin on the ends as it may be a bit too stiff afterwards. There i use plain black electrical tape. Both provide "some" amount of EMI resistance. You might not be able to see them very well but HERE are some pictures of my mod/s in progress. To paint them i suggest using White vinal dye thenspray with UV reactive dye for blacklight buffs, or another color vinal dye of you choosing *after the white ^primer^*

For being inexpensive and EASY to install, I recommend the split-loom stuff. The spiral stuff is painstaking to install and as JaRb0y said, the other mesh stuff can be a hassle. I've seen split-loom sold in auto parts stores, mailorder and even in Ikea (for cable organization, sold in $4 packs of 6-8', white and large diameter). I usually get mine from All Electronics in bulk. 100' packs run from $9-15 depending on diameter. I've bought a selection of different diameters and have done dozens of computers and still have a bunch left. I've also sold bits to friends. All Electronics has a flat rate $6 ground shipping, so it ends up pretty cheap. They'll also sell in 10' sections at a slightly higher cost per foot.

Those are some great idea's. I was considering the automotive grade split tubing as I have used in the past for my car but I was thinking on trying something different. I think I'll try that some of these expandable sleeves. I just hope that it'll be stretchable enough to fit over the molex connectors.

Thanks again.

I just bought some spiral wrap from home depot for like 1.50 and its great. All the wires look so clean and under a cold cathode the clear spiral wrap glows OMG 😀

I use zip ties to secure the wires to various parts of the chasis, so they stay hidden and out of the way. I maneuver the wires so that they will only travel a very short distance frm the time they leave the chassis to the time they reach the device. I dont like the looks of split loom, and spiral wrap is too much of a pain. My technique envolves a fair amount of work, but almost no money, and looks much neater than having all these ribbed black tubes everywhere.

While we're on the subject, whats the best way to hide the mobo power cable. I have a 8k3a so the atx connector is in a bad spot, its on the left side of the socket so it needs to go over the HSF.

Poorest man's solution is to use rubber bands, or just not do anything at all. Win!
Lose!!!

hmmm, I think the free twisty ties are better and cheaper(free) and work better because they are much easier to apply than rubber bands - rubber bands would not be very practical.

Dude... you need to paint your drives... that black case with those tan drives looks funny. Maybe paint them silver... make the drive trays blue to match the blue inside, and paint the button and the little "dust flap" on the floppy drive blue as well. Do SOMETHING at least =)

Bring the main power cable down the rear wall of the case and swing it out to the connector. You can probably tuck it very neatly against the wall and stow any excess above the PSU.

i remember my old alienware had really good cable management aswell but thats long gone now without any pictures... 🙁

Of course i like my new rig better 😛
