Was just wondering what router and wirless cards are the best wireless. The router is going on the first floor, one computer is going on the second floor right above the router, and the other computer is going in the basement on the other side of the house. I work for the cable company setting up roadrunner and have heard many conflicting things from customers about wireless products. Most of them have linksys routers but im not to sure about the cards. Ive heard cisco makes good cards. Any suggestions would be nice but please dont flame.

Being the central point of the wireless, the router is the more important part - and the Linksys WRT54 series are quite good at that. Lots of features, 3rd-party firmware for some models, etc. Cards - you could stick to the same manufacturer if you like, but generally any decent brand name will be fine. You can probably get a bundle-pack of Router + PCI card for fairly cheap, then just add another PCI card for the second machine.

Make sure to secure your network. :)

lol speaking of Linksys WRT54 series w/routers i just bought the Linksys WRT54GX v2 Wireless-G Broadband MIMO Router w/SRX

This comes tomorrow. cpmer: i'll let you know how it pans out, to see if i could recommend it, it is a bit pricey though. Plan to connect one desktop (hard wired) plus two wireless laptops and my xbox 360 :D

EDIT: Bit more info and pics

I don?t know what?s the big deal with the removable antennas though, because version one has fixed antennas

i currently have the netgear wireless rangemax router. my uncle designed the chipset for it. so far, i like it a lot. using the rangemax pci adapter, i constantly have a 100% connection 50+ ft away from the router.

I am not familiar with that particular router, but, save yourself some possible headaches and always buy the same brand cards. Also note, you will only achieve 108 mbs. by using matching brands.
