Any suggestions on a GPU for a Core i5 750 setup and WinXP?

I have a Geforce 250 GTS now, and would like to move up, I know DX9 is the limit but I do coding also and OpenGL brings DX11 quality to WinXP if you have engines for it... but anyway screen size is 1920x1080.

I want to stay with Nvidia as I want OpenGL 4.3 an some of the DX11 features that Kepler brings that Radeon 7k series doesn't

Thanks!

Budget?

::reads sig::

Is this a secondary rig?

Anything less than a 650 is still a Fermi part. (Although if you like GPGPU stuff, Fermi might be better. Lotta folding peeps kept their 5-series cards.)

So that leaves you wanting Kepler, and getting either a:

650
650 Ti
660
660 Ti
670
680
690

So... just use the search function on Newegg to find the best one under your budget? Any of them are going to be a pretty nice upgrade over your 250.

I would like to spend less than $300 but I am worried that a Core i5 750 isn't going to be able to feed a 670 vs. say a Core i5 3570 or something... I need numbers on how much performance loss will be by using a older CPU, and would like to get a 600 series card that matches up with this i5 750 CPU....

Thanks!

A few benchmarks I did here in a clock-for-clock analysis of the i7-860 and i7-3770k using a GTX670: http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=33684758&postcount=2

Long story short, an i5-750 won't limit you too much assuming you're going to give it a significant overclock. The only place you'll really see a difference is in minimums - the 750 won't be able to keep up with new CPUs there. Also, at stock settings I wouldn't pair it with more than a GTX660.

And honestly, you should upgrade to Win7. Using a GTX670 on a WinXP system makes no sense, as many games are DX10/11 only, particularly the ones that actually need that kind of power. If you need dual-boot for some reason that's fine, but do not drop >$300 on a GPU to play DX9 games.
