I took these with a Canon A10. It is only a 1.3 megapixel camera, but I takes great pictures. I thought I needed a 3 or 4 megapixel camera, but after looking around a lot, I decided the A10 would do. You can get one for around $155 plus shipping from some online places.

Olympus make fine digital cameras. I use their C-960 (D-960 in the US I believe) model. They do use smartmedia rather than compact flash however. That may or may not be a disadvantage for you.

One word of advice: You are better off buying a digital camera from a company known for producing fine lenses. Unless you wish to pay mega bucks, digital cameras do not have interchangeable lenses, and even the most technologically advanced camera is only as good as the lens it sees the world through.

Right, good optical zoom is better than digital zoom...

I have the sony dsc-f707 but it's huge, I love the canon s110 and thinking of looking at the s200..

I recommend something small.. s110/s200 or that new minolta one..

cf is much better due to amount of storage it offers but smart media camera last longer due to lower power usage...

I really like the fujifilm finepix 2400. It has the same features as the Finepix 2600, but it's just a little larger. I think it's been discontinued, but you can find it for about $200 at some retailers and ebay. It's a 2.1 megapixel camera, max 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution, uses smartmedia, has 3x optical zoom and 2x digital, and a 2" LCD colour viewing screen and optical viewfinder. Olympus does have the sharpest images that I have seen. The fujis and cannon's are nice too but I'd avoid Kodak they seem kinda cheezy. What is your price range? Oh do not buy a cheap Sony I had a cheapo and it was bad! they do not get good till the S75 (but that is $500)

Just another quick question. Anyone suggest the Kodak EZ200? Not great spec-wise, but it seems a lot of people around the Internet like it, and it's only $130 or so online.

What's your budget?

If you have a Staples near you and don't mind a rebate and coupon you could get an AWESOME deal on this for $130.

Otherwise stick with the Canon A10 (or any Canon), Fuji Finepix 1300/1400 (or any Fuji) or Olympus digicams.

In regards to the Canon A10, is it basically considered the best bang for the buck digital camera? You know, is it good quality, speed, etc.

If you can get that Vivitar for $130 from Staples that's an excellent deal but this one will probably be a lot easier.

I totally agree and wish I had done this before buying the Canon PowerShot S200 (although it was a pre-order item). I like small cameras but this digicam was a little too small for my liking. Visit your local camera shop they usually will carry both Fuji and Olympus digicams or check out your local Best Buy to see what these look like in person and ask the sales people if you could play with it a little.

I have a Fuji 2600 digital camera. It's 2 megapixel with a nice zoom, runs on smartmedia. It's extremely easy to use and takes nice pictures. Check out My Site for examples of pictures that I've taken with this camera. It doesn't use batteries that much either. I highly recommend it for personal or website use. I think you can find them for around $200... I paid $300 for it when I purchased it.
