Any suggestions?

My HP CD-Writer Plus 8200i quit working. Just got my 45 Gig HD up and running (see link below) and now the CD-Writer is not accessing CDs. My computer recognizes the drive but will not access CDs. I have tried changing from Slave to Master, switching out cables, stand-alone, etc. with no luck. Looking for suggestions because the HP website is no help!

You have the CD set as a slave and on its own IDE cable separate from the HD?

Primary IDE --- 45Gig(Mas)/13Gig(Sla)
Secondary IDE-- CD ROM(Mas)/CD-Writer(Sla)

My CDRW is Secondary IDE Slave:

The CDRW worked fine prior to the 45 Gig HD installation. The problem I had with the HD is that it was unstable. It was locking my computer up. I started from scratch and zeroed the drive. My bios recognizes all drives including the CDRW. I removed the entry in the "System" under the control panel and rebooted the computer. It found the CDRW once more. I went into the bios and did a search for drives. It finds it there too. There is a letter assigned to the drive, but always gives me an error stating there is not a cd in the drive. When I put a CD in the drive, it spins up a little, green flashing light, then nothing...

At the moment, I do NOT have another machine to try it in.
