Hi All,

I am planning to buy a home PC in the next week or so.I am a web developer using Dreamweaver/Photoshop/Debabilizer and Interdev. Also use Oracle and SQL Server.
Will obviously also use the PC for all the usual word processing/Quicken -type software.

I am not a very serious gamer - although I don't mind an occasional shootout on Quake. :)

On the lines of the old AnandTech Buyers Guide, can anyone suggest a Value SOHO system ?

BTW , I have already decided on sticking to Intel Pentium rather than AMD Athlon XP.

Thanks in advance for your sugesstions.

Dell is the cheapest way to buy an entire Pentium 4 system but they are not very upgradeable unless you mod the case for some more traditional components.

Start with these specs and customize to taste. You may not want as much RAM and you can just as easily move to ATi-based video. Add and subtract until you are comfortable with the price.

Keep in mind that I said use the specs. Don't assume that I mean for you to only shop at NewEgg. If you can find a comparable system at Dell (I would reccomend you look at them) or any other respectable vendor, definitely do so. Dell, for instance, tends to have some crazy deals on a regular basis.
