Any Suggestions for a Good Fake Gun?

Hope I don't get flamed for this

but basically I want to own a gun for self-defense at my place
I would never want to fire one or have a bit of chance of accidentally using it, etc.
, but would like the power to make robbers or whatever freeze.

Any suggestions for a great model gun?
 
Robbers usually arent unarmed right? So how would raising the stakes by pulling your "gun" on somebody end well. Everything I've ever read/watched or whatever has taught me that you should never ever pull out a gun unless you plan to use it and well pulling a fake gun will more than likely just get you shot instead of them "freezing'
 
You've got to be kidding me... You don't point a gun at somebody w/o the intend to kill them. Or maybe I'm thinking don't shoot if you don't intend to kill. OP, you're gonna end up getting shot in the face.
 
My forehead hurts now. I just slammed it on my desk in disbelief. Every sensible gun owner in this nation/world owns guns and does not want to have to use it on someone. Chances are that you will never have to, but if that life altering moment comes you better be damn well prepared for it, and a toy gun is not being prepared.
If you are that against guns, and feel that you need to protect yourself, buy a baseball bat and a taser or pepper spray.
You cannot be afraid of guns. Guns do not kill. People do. And people can be stupid and that's how an "unloaded" gun kills someone. It is not the act, intention or desire of the firearm. It is a concious decision of the person holding it, be it on purpose or negligent.

I figured it would at least be better to have that 'Freeze!' and have that 0-100% chance of the robber putting their hands up rather than 0%.

Or just don't live in such fear that you buy a model gun for your safety.
 
No no no no. I was going to give you some links but if you want this for "self defense" I want no part in this. Terrible, terrible idea. Either be willing to defend you and yours for real, or forget defense and be ready to evacuate when something like that happens.

Bad idea. If the burglar is crazy enough to enter your home while you're in it you better believe they won't act rationally once you confront them. Do you think a meth-head or coke-head will act in a rational manner? You live in the United States where the Constitution recognizes your right to defend your life and your family. Go buy yourself a pistol or shotgun and practice at the range. Remember, they don't value your life as much as they value theirs.
