Any Success Backing up Quake 3 Team Arena? I've tried with clone cd and failed:(

I just wanted to backup the game nothing illegal since u need the cd key to play online Anyhow i use clone cd, and check off the 1st 4 when i read to image file.

/Read subchannel data from data tracks
/read subchannel data from audio tracks
/fast error skip
/don't report read errors.

The burned game installs to 96% and then fails for some reason. Anyone know why? I do this with a plextor by the way.. never had a disc i couldn't copy till now.

I have not had a single problem burning quake 3 backups. I use the adaptec software that came with my cd burner. I have also used nero to make a copy of it and it worked fine.

go to cloneclinic...the forums there have great game backup support..

yea quake 3 arena is easy to copy, but i'm talking about team arena.

Sorry, I miss read your post. I wish I had a copy of team arena to try backing up but I do not have the extra money. I would suggest using nero, I think the trial version lets you do a cd backup.

ah yea, well i havn't tried nero yet, been using clone cd because that is supposed to make perfect copies and has so far without fail until now.

i just backed up my Team Arena CD, used all ur settings except i kept fast error skip on. installed fine too...did using a Plextor 8/4/32A

hm, i did have it on, i had the 1st 4 settings on. Did you have it error skip on software or hardware? Oh yea, what version of clone cd are you running... i think mine is 2.3.3.3

are u doing a straight cd to cd copy? if so then make an image of the game first.

oh darn, i left those subchannel reads on worked on every other game.. ah well i just installed clone cd 2.8.4.2, should be the newest grumble i go through piles of spindles because of crap like this

yes i did make an image using the plextor.. i'm starting to think i have a special screwed up q3ta disc Tried 5 times, grumble always dies on install at 96% exactly.. pak0.pk3 or something.


argh this is fustrating, bumping my cdr firmware to 1.08 now

It may just be that your version of CloneCD is too old. While the 2.3.3.3 version only dates back to May, there has been about 2 releases of CloneCD a month fixing various bugs and problems. What model Plextor is it that you are using?
