I recently read a book by his called the Wizard and the Glass. This book was horrendous. So horrendous I wonder if a ghost write wrote it. I liked the Four Seasons book, and a couple others.

But we are talking about SK books not some 16-18th century works! Although I did like "Emma"...
He has written many movies, the ones mentioned above, and Apt Pupil, It, Thinner, it goes on and on. Prolific, ain't he? 
The Stand is my faovrite book of all time, I still can't get the image of Trask unbolting the prison cot with his hands until the bone came through, all the while dining on rats. The Walkin' Dude creeped me out.. The movie suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked..

I'm really surprised no one mentioned Pet Sematary. I'm not talking about the movie either. The movie sucked compared to the book. It was said that when Stephen King came to the part about the guy digging up his son, SK had to put the book aside and couldn't write anymore in it for some time.

The Talisman is on order, Night Shift is on it's way from amazon, as is Hearts in Atlantis (thanks to the people in this thread...GF....), maybe I should get Pet Semetery too?
I will still say, no matter what books SK puts out, nothing will ever beat The Talisman. He has endorsed movies for so many of his books (most of which turned out terrible), he should make a movie for the Talisman!!!! One good character to play Morgan Sloat/Morgan of Orris is Gene Hackman, IMO.

Ah, OK Girlfriday. I am a reader too, though I enjoy a good comedy more than a horror story, as every one of them(except MAYBE the ORIGINAL "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley...:Q) is CORNY! Thought Stephen LawHead is pretty good...i like Frank Paretti(sp?) as well....

Just finished Hearts in Atlantis a few months ago and Bag of Bones last week. BOB was panned by the critics but I enjoyed it. King has a very strange sense of humor and I guess I do also as I find a lot of it in his books.. Sarcasm, cynicism and his true to life characters also help.
Have read EVERYTHING he has written under his name, may have to look into the dark tower series after reading this thread. Started one of the Gunslingers but didnt care for it. Maybe just didnt get into it or not the right time for me to read it.
I just enjoy his writing style.

The first Dark Tower book is not the most exciting. Once the story gets moving and he starts introducing his other worlds in there it gets real good.

I agree. I re-read the entire series a few years ago (right before Wizard and Glass came out), and I thought the Gunslinger was a little slow. Drawing of the Three was A LOT better than I had remembered it, however.
i love his jail stories, ie shawshank and green mile, plus i live about 2 blocks away from him and played baseball once for him on a little league team I must say he is a very generous man and has done a lot for our town. Thanks Stephen!
