Any standout USB memory keys?

I lost my Cruzer Mini and need to buy another one. I can get the same thing for about $30 shipped from Newegg, but I'm wondering if there's any standout features that some other brand has. The only complaint I had with the Mini is that the lanyard attachment point was ridiculously small and fragile (mine broke).

There's also the 1GB Lexar Jumpdrive from CompUSA for $60 after rebate. Might get that instead.

I guess they are all the same. I have a PNY 512MB that I got from Best Buy for $35. I like it:thumbsup:

The cheap Kingmax 256MB I got from newegg works fine. It has a little mechanical write protect (like many of them) so you can protect it before plugging in to a computer you suspect of being infected.

i believe they are "all the same". Meaning, if it is a brand you havent heard bad things about, and comes a thte cheapest price with usb 2.0 get it.

Arstechnica has a USB2.0 flashdrive roundup HERE. There might be newer reviews but this is a good place to start. If you're picky, they aren't all the same then. Some are faster even though they are all USB 2.0. Both read and write performances vary. However, if you aren't picky about performance and just want some storage I suppose anything will do. If security is a concern for you I would ignore any that come with "security" features or software. The best way to secure your files is to simply encrypt them (IMHO) using something like PGP.

Too bad it's missing the PQI drive in the roundup. The write-protect feature is the only feature that I'd like to have, but that'd make the PQI thicker.

Quite a few in the review did have write protection features though...The PNY, Mushkin, Transcend and SimpleTech
