I've tried setting up Skype (verifying a number), iSkoot, and AIM on Blackberry via text messaging where they send you the link. For some reason I haven't received any of the text messages, but I get text messages from friends all the time. Do you think Sprint is blocking these on purpose? It seems like they are trying to cripple my service.

Yup, they're crippling your service. Switch to Verizon.

heh.. you are the funny....

i have sprint now, but have not tried the forwarding. why not just get the aim client that works on your blackberry? these programs work pretty well and you don't use the text service, just the data service that is always connected anyway.

My parents get a good deal and don't really want to change carriers. But it's free for me, so I can't complain. They actually just got a data plan added and got my sister the Samsung touch. I'm planning on getting a newer Blackberry pretty soon, but I'm pissed at how crippled it's going to be.

I just meant when I signed up for AIM online it was suppose to send me a text, so I could easily download the client. I had to end up going through my Blackberry browser and downloading. Turns out it doesn't work for some reason, and I'll have to use a different client.

But I don't mean the text that actually sends the AIM messages back and forth. I'm just talking about the original text.

Now that I think about it. A long time I had internet access blocked on my Blackberry because I didn't have a data plan at the time. Blackberry automatically tries to use the internet first rather than SMS, so I had some huge bills. Maybe part of it is being blocked still. I can get on the internet just fine since adding the plan.

I have Sprint an occasionally have trouble with texts - not getting them for a couple hours or people not getting them for a while, never had a good explanation

Make sure sprint is not blocking 3rd patry text. Had this issue when I first switched to sprint and was not getting the AIM text, and a sports score subscription. Had to call in and have them turn off "3rd party" blocking and no more issues.
