Any specific news on when we can expect new Core 2 processors from Intel?

I'm thinking about building a second PC. My current is a Core2 2.67ghz. If I'm building new I always think about upgrading but the extreme processors are a lot more for little gain in performance currently. Thought I'd see what was coming out and when.

Thanks

Thanks! I had not seen that.

I am curious though about standard edition units. I'm trying to stay in the $500 range. Typically the good standard edition units go for about $500 and the extreme editions are usually about double without double the performance gain. I do want the fast processor but I'm too cheap to pay a lot for the marginal improvement. I'd be willing to pay the difference between the 2.4 and the 2.6 unit because I do a lot of video work, but not enough to pay between $500 and $1000 (that was when they came out - not sure how much they are now - maybe $800) for the extreme edition.

Update - found some info -

They also have the 6420 and 6320 coming out as well which is on the 1066 bus but has 4MB L2 rather than the 2MB L2 of the current 6400 and 6300

Good stuff.

The only tough thing about these new 6X50 chips is the low mults.

6850 = default 9
6750 = default 8
6650 = default 7

overclocking will be a little tougher but hopefully the new intel bearlake chipset will help out
