Need help pronouncing a city in Peru. It is Piura, located in Northern Peru.

How do you say this ? here......

I heard you roll the "r" but I need to know for sure so I can settle a bet.

Maybe you could write how to say it , or even better an audio clip 🙂

Thanks

I don't think you'd roll the r since it's not a double-r. Then again, someone that knows Spanish beyond what I learned in high school can probably give you a better answer.

I'd pronounce it "Pee-you-rah".

I'd pronounce it "Pee-you-rah".

I think you're correct. Not rolling the r's unless they're doubled up I think.

I'd pronounce it "Pee-YOU'-rah".

pee yoo rah

remember, R's in spanish are soft, not hard R's like a pirate's "ARRRRR"

your tongue should just flick when pronouncing the R, not just stay in the back of your throat like a pirate's or an american's would.

.

Single or double "Rs" get rolled regardless. Its the length of the "rolling" that changes.
