Any software to tell me how many bad clusters on a hard drive?

There are lot of programs that will test the drive, and give you an indication of bad clusters, but that can take hours to run.
Is there anything that will just tell you how many bad clusters are on the drive? Is it stored anywhere a diagnostic program can just read?

Thanks.

How can you tell that there is a bad cluster without testing it at least once?

Not really, but you have utilities that read from SMART, which may be somewhat accurate. But for the most part, doing a scan would be best.

If you want something that reads SMART data, HDDScan or CrystalDiskInfo works.

You can use the SMART values for Current_Pending_Sector and Reallocated_Sector_Ct as an indication but the only way to really know is to test the drive.

It is technologically feasible. I can't think of any software that just does a quick lookup though. I know of software that will perform detailed analysis of a drive (taking many many hours to run) and will update the list of bad sectors on a harddrive.

Other than the Smart values not really. I can't see any way possible of finding them without reading them first.
