any software to recover data from the HD?

My HD was erased most likely buy a virus. Anyway to recover the data by myself instead of sending to the professional service?

There was a program called Easy Data Recovery Pro that did an excellent job of recovering stuff.. as long as you didn't overwrite the existing data. I'm not sure the web site, but try a google search.

The other tools from Ontrack weren't that great imo.
