Any software to add subtitle files to movies

Yeah, I know how to view the movie with a subtitle file (and a program that displays them while you play it) BUT is there any way to get the subs onto the video permanently?

Yeah, thanks, i went to some video help website and of course, virtualdub did the job, with an extra program...that...i dont remember
