Any software or plugin to "auto-equalize" music?

I was just wondering if there was any winamp plugin or software that could "auto-equalize" audio by analyzing the music playing and optimizing the settings to get good results. Kind of like an auto adjust of a picture's levels and contrast in photoshop 🙂

The function you're looking for is called 'normalizing'. A lot of cd rippers and burners have options for this, but if you're 'borrowing' mp3s from different friends, then you can use a winamp plugin like SqrSoft Limiter or tomsteady. There are others on the winamp plugin site but the descriptions/search is pretty poor.

Thanks guys!
this is pretty interesting. Ganesha, have you tried the MAD plugin? can you really say there's an appreciable difference? And does winamp's equalizer still work with it?

Definitely sounds better to me, really tightens up the bass on my Klipsch 2.1's with a Santa Cruz. I don't have a need for the equalizer with the plugin, but yes, it will work.
