i need a free progam to srink a lot of 2048x1536 jpegs down to 800x600, i need to do this for my web site. any body know of one?
oh ya i do not want to do them one by one.

Ifranview should go the trick, its what i use to batch resize pics...

EDIT: Me slow.

So is Irfanview's jpeg compression algorithm as good as/better than Photoshops?

Or does it not really touch that aspect of the pic, just resizes it?

I like photoshops more...it has the preview option. Irfanview doesn't AFAIK

EDIT: and you can see the size the file will be before you save it in Photoshop...that's nice.

i cant get Image Resizer to work i guess ill do it the hard way. but with photoshop7 at least i know it will look good.

Photoshop, create an Action, run the Action in a Batch.

Steps:
1. Action->Create New Action->Record
2. Resize one of the images to the desired size.
3. Stop recording Action.
4. File->Automate->Batch
5. Select your saved Action from the drop down. (will default to it)
6. Set Destination (Save and Close).
7. Hit OK.

Yay for Batches...

did you try Irfanview?

no, is it easer than ps7

Probably not easier than the post just above yours. But i think Irfanview has a "batch resize" option (not sure, since i don't have it here at work), and based on Aphex's post, i'd assume that is so.

All you do is install it. Then, go find your files you want to resize, right click on them and select "resize pictures". Then, select what size you want them to be. Quite easy. 🙂

So, the options are:
1) VirtualZone's JPEG Resizer
2) Window's XP's Image Resizer power toy
3) Irfanview

Of these, which is as good as Photoshop?
