I am wondering If there is any software that burns a DVD directly from your camcorder's DV input. If it has to use HD space temporarily that's fine, just as long as it does everything for you without any further user interaction...

edit: i don't have a dvd burner yet, so maybe all basic dvd burning software can do this but I just want to make sure. I'd like something simple so my parents can use it without bugging me for help

Not that I am aware of. Not sure what kind of menu you would get either besides maybe a play button, if that.

The solution here would be a camera that records to DVD. Otherwise, some DVD drives do ship with DV software. A cheap IEEE 1394 card and Pinnacle Studio 9 would be less than $100. Your biggie may be the need for another HD as standard DV is around 13GB/hour to record to disk, but 80GBs are getting cheaper every day.

How can any software make a DVD from DV without authoring it,.. and how would it know how to author wthout user input?..DVD's ARE NOT plain video files (like DV) they have structures. I think the best you may be able to get is on the fly dv to mpeg2 conversion (with a powerful set up)....but authoring I doubt....I may be wrong, but I'd like to see the results if I am............

You know, based on the PU comment (parental unit), Studio 9 may be your answer. Try this link to Studio - Pinnacle Studio 9

I have a Studio sample that I did on a laptop during a break in sessions at WinHEC. It is here. Click on the WinHEC Big Bash link. Note that it is about 9MB.
