Any sleep aid out there that really works?

Asking because I don't want to get burned... I had gotten some yohimbe because it's supposed to be a good appetite suppressant, but it made me horny as a dog and so now it sits there, unused, a reminder that I didn't ask the good folk at ATOT before purchasing. Diet aids aside though, I want a sleep aid now.

Melatonin works for me. Results vary big time though but it's so cheap to get a bottle from your local pharmacy that it's not going to hurt to give it a try.

I've tried it, didn't do much for me. I was thinking of trying kava, but as I said, I don't want to get burned.

What do you mean by much? Are you wanting something to put you to sleep or are you wanting something to help you sleep? :p

Pretty much the former... I'm a moderate insomniac.

Brisk cardiovascular exercise for 30 minutes.

Don't eat any sugary foods or carb-high foods for at least 2 hours before you sleep.

I used to have the same problem when I was in college. A lot of it had to do with my diet and the fact that I did consume quite a hefty amount of caffeine throughout the day.

Do you mind sharing a few of your habits with us? Diet? Waking time and attempted bed time? Exercise? There might be natural remedies to help you as opposed to telling you to drink 1/5th of Jack. :p

Take two Maximum Strength Sleepinol's and I PROMISE you'll be on your ass before you know it. Max Strength sominex is good too.

It's really got nothing to do with habits, and if I told you you'd give me a "well, no wonder!" - but I've been this way for as long as I can remember, long before I took ephedra or became such a coffee afficionado ;) Besides, I do neither near bedtime.

Careful. Once you start taking the stuff, it may be hard for you to sleep without them.

I heard of something called Valerian root.... Try a google search for it and research a little... I guess it's been used for thousands of years as a natural sleep aid.

I was hooked on Tylenol PM for a long time. When I did quit it, it took a few weeks for me to get back on a normal sleeping schedule. I have a lot less trouble getting up in the morning now that I'm not on that stuff.

FYI, generic benadryl has the same ingredient as the sleeping pills (sominex, nytol, tylenol PM, etc..) and is muich cheaper. I pop a couple of those to help me sleep.

Ambien works wonders. and it is designed to be out of your system after 6-7 hours, so there are no hangovers, no grogginess... :)
