Any skateboarders in here?

I just got a skateboard for this summer break and was wondering if anyone had any tips/suggestions/valuable resources on how to get get started? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

At ~ 13-14 years old.

Only tip is to keep riding it and don't be scared to try new sh!t. Your wounds will heal and chicks dig scars.

I found my old skateboard from '89 or so at my mother's place, and just rode around the driveway for a bit last summer. Tore up the palm of my hand, but it was fun as hell and I really wished I wasn't too old 🙁

Still got it sitting in my apartment, but not ballsy enough to take it out.

<---former skater back in the days when Powell Peralta was big. I had the Steve Cabellero board with the dragon design.

I started skateboarding at age 9 skated till I was 16... Realized I wasted 7 years of my life.... its fun but don?t make the mistake of living the skating lifestyle..

I used to be a real big skater...
when I started, I was in the seventh grade. I skated for about 4-5 years until the summer after my sophomore year of h.s. Definitely surround yourself with people better than or equal to you.. you will progress like crazy.
I still skated afterwards but never serious like I used to be. Now, I don't even own a skateboard
what do you want to know? I pretty much know everything about street skating, I used to hit all the big city downtowns with my friends, go to skateparks, cause a lot of trouble, get kicked out a lot, run from the cops, and etc. the whole nine yards

So did I. Guess you had "bones brigade" video with the sick hawain ditches?

There was this new kid trying to learn some things, really lanky but had decent skills. I think his name was Tony Hawk. Skated with him a few times - man was he lanky but he was good.

There were tons of good times, but I made a complete jackass of my self, school, family, nothing else really mattered to me except skateboarding, It sucked because at my school and in my area I was one of the only skaters left in HS.

Uh..

Just don't be like that kid who knocked the sh!t out of his face in that video.

The one where we all said he took it well and that we would cry like a pansy if we were him.

I can't even remember who was popular when I started skating in ~84-86. I can remember I had a lame ass board, was a decent skater, but never really got caught up in the "lifestyle".

I can?t remember what skate video that really got me into skating I think it was one of the early blind videos with Guy Mariano that kid was just amazing

edit: It was called Video Days
