here, you can have my brocolli...

Actually Human Growth Hormone does just that... too bad it is illegal except in life threatning cases (How can your height be life-threatning??)

Tell ya what. You change your name to my name, I'll change my name to your name. Then you'll be 6'4" and I'll be 5'5". So someone says, |mpeg| is 5'5", you can say no, he's 6'4". Then when someone says perry is 6'4", I'll say, no he's 5'5". Get it?

Ok. Too much physics studying tonight. I'm going to sleep.

|mpeg|,

Despite all the BS, no, there are no "secrets" to growing taller. Assuming a normal diet up until now, the only thing you can hope for is a late growth spurt.

I will tell you this: When I started highshool at 14 years old, I was 5'1" tall and weighed 95 lbs. I finished highschool at 6'4" and 200 lbs. I grew another inch after highschool.

How big are your feet? Mine were already sized 12 at 14 years old. If your feet are abnormally large, there may be a chance. If they're normal, or small for your size, you're screwed.

there is a secret... but it is probably not worth the cost ( not just a money issue )

you need an xray of your hand to determine skeletal maturity.

Then, if by chance the Xray shows that you have not yet reached skeletal maturity, large doses of growth hormone will increase your heighth.

Most males reach skeletal maturity by age 17... 3 or 4% have not.

Most females reach skeletal maturity by age 13 ( 85-90% ) or so.

It is a long shot & you may have significant side effects from the growth hormone. It has to be taken in injections like insulin & costs on the order of $1000. per month. The cost is not covered by any medical insurance programs.

If you are willing to take the risk & have the money... go for it.

My youngest sister is 24... and still growing ! She is now 1m89 (> 6'2")
My other sister grew till she was 18, she's 1m83 (6')
I grew till 19 (I'm 1m94, > 6'4")

So don't worry, it is possible to gain height at 17...

Yeah how do you grow taller. THat would be cool. I figure just eat a balanced diet, dont do squats. Benchpressing really shouldn't do anything to you. I'm taller than both my mom and dad, but i think that might just be nutrition since they country i moved from isn't all that great nutrition wise. My brother is like an inch taller than me now though, i wish i could be like 6 feet tall. I'm 19 and 5'10 and a half around which i guess isnt too bad for asian, but yeah it'd be cool to be 6 feet just you know its like getting to the next level. My 12 year old sister is 5'2" which means i'll probably end up being the shortest since i was shorter than that at 11.

It's all genetics.

learn to live with your shortness, because unless you have size 12-13 feet on that 5'5" frame, you are probably done growing. Most people I know were done growing early in high school. Me, I was at my full height by about grade 7... a measly 5'10.5"..not an inch since I was 12 (I'm 18 now, so the chances or me growing more are low..plus i lift weights). oh yeah, and what czar said...just wait til the hair starts coming in everywhere :disgust:

I noticed most tall people are blood type B pos.

I say go to the hospital and have your bodily liquids drained and replaced with type B+ blood. ;)

sorry, I forgot the "other secret", castration

purple is wrong, testosterone stops heighth increase. It causes closure of bone epiphyseal growth plates along with a short term rapid growth spurt, in all but a very small genetic group. Purple is probably in that group as most very tall men 6'2" and above are. This group continues to grow up to about age 20.

castration before skeletal maturity will usually result in significat increase in heighth. It prolonges the age of plate closure.

Its all about genetics ... I grew another inch my freshman year in college ... I'm 5'9 and a half, my brother is almost 6'3 we get this height from our maternal grandfather who was 6'3 where as all the rest of our grandparents were 5'3, 5'6, and 5'8 ... so we got lucky.

I grew an extra inch after age 22.

Of course you could always move to Japan or Ireland.

EDIT: If you are ever drafted and in the line of fire you will be glad you are a smaller target.

I was trying to be funny.

Just my luck that cxim would come along and blow holes in my theory.

I'm really not 6'-8" either, more like 5'-11". I was just trying to show that I don't 'choke-the-chicken'.
