Any s754 A64 Venice users?

I know s754 is reaching near its EOL, but I plan on sticking with it a little longer since I don't game much anymore. I've got a good overclocking board (DFI NF3 250GB) that hits 320-325HTT, and I'm wanting to pair it with an A64 Venice that gives me the best OC at a reasonable voltage

Venice 3000+ s754 - 10x multiplier
Venice 3200+ s754 - 11x
Venice 3400+ s754 - 12x (OEM chip only)

I can pick up a used E6 3000+ for $65 shipped (CBBWE stepping, 0544 production), but Newegg has the 3400+ for $99 with a free (albeit crappy) NF3 board. Based on experiences I've found on other forums, it seems that the 3400+ should be able to hit 2.7-2.8Ghz easy, simply because of the higher multiplier and a stock speed of 2.4Ghz.

Also, it seems that the newer E6 3000+ or 3200+ don't seem to overclock as well as the earlier E3 cores and require high voltage (1.6v+) to get 2.6Ghz+. Overall, the 3200+ seemed to be the best bang for the buck, but I haven't had much luck finding them.

Any recommendations? Also, I'd love to hear it if anyone has any details on the 0544 CBBWE chips.

If it was me, I would go ahead with the 3400+ deal. Sell the mobo and get $30 or whatever and buy you a better mobo if you want. That Biostar NF3 board seems to oc ok. Seems like a couple are getting bad boards though. IT should have a PCI Lock. You shouldn't need much htt speed to get it to the cpu's limit either.

I would go with the 3400+ and sell the board. Or try the board and sell it if you are not happy with it.

I have a 3000+ (E6 Venice) on a GA-K8NS PRO, it currently runs at 2.67ghz, 1.5v no worries at all, I could push it higher but I haven't been bothered yet.

Highest I could get my Venice 3400+ overclocked Prime95-stable was 2.67ghz. I think I got it running 241x11.5 (2.77ghz) but I didn't like how much voltage I had to feed it (1.65v). A guy over in the hardforum socket754 club thread got his to 2969.3mhz but it was with crazy amounts of voltage that you wouldn't want to run long term

2.7 or so is about tops for the 3400+. I think most of the Venice chips will likely clock to about the same, 2.6-2.7 or or so.

After seeing some of the big AMD price cuts finally surfacing today, I may just hold off for now and stick with my Sempron 3100+ running at 2.6Ghz. The 3100+ has 256k of cache, so it's not as limited as the other 128k Semprons.

I've seen several people selling the 3000+ Venices, but they haven't been overclocked. If I could find one that OCs to 2.65-2.7Ghz at 1.55v or less, then I might jump on it for $60-$70.

The main reason I'm still sticking with s754 at this point is my 9800XT is still a great video card for me. Unfortunately, s939 boards with an AGP are limited. Even still, with AMD's lower prices, I could upgrade to s939 for:

NF4 s939 MB - $70
X2 3800+ - $150
PCI-e budget video card - $100

Assuming I could get $100 for my current s754 DFI board/Sempron64 and $70 for a 9800Pro, that's less than $200 to upgrade to s939 and a X2 chip that would overclock at least as high as any s754 chip.

The real question comes down to how much difference in performance would there be on a Sempron64 at 2.6Ghz with 256k cache vs. a A64 running at 2.6-2.7Ghz? My guess is probably not much.
