The most important thing is to find a shoe that is right for you. There is really no "best" brand or shoe. The Mizuno's that are right for me may be horrible for your arch and/or running style.
I go to a small privately owned store, owned and run only by experienced runners. They take a look at your feet and how you've worn down previous shoes and then bring out a few pairs of shoes for you to try on. They then send you out onto the sidewalk to take a quick jog and you can choose the shoe that feels best. If you don't have a place like this around you, their website might help.

Their
"Sole Mate" will also help you figure out what's right for you.
Their site has extensive descriptions for each shoe in several categories containing information like: "This shoe is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for running 30 miles a week or over."
I'm sure browsing around there will help you greatly. Just let me know if you have any more questions.
Good Luck!
Just as a side note: Matt Withrow, the winner of this year's Footlocker National High School Cross Country race, works there.
