Any rumors on when the 5870x2 will be released?

I don't think it would surpass any 4-Series CF.
However, if the 5870 would show a 50% increase in performance over the 4870....then that would be a remarkable achievement for ATI.

Yes, but at that point I would still get a 4890 CF setup for less than $100 more.

Oh, but then the 5870 is a DX11 part...

I thought it was pretty close to a 4870x2 from the other thread that showed benchmarks. For $300 that isn't bad. A 5870x2 will be 50% faster than a 295. 🙂

Can you point me in the direction of those benchmarks? because i can't find anything.

Also can i recommend a mod put up a sticky thread with all information regarding Cyprus in one place?

Thanks people.

Would be very surprised if it is on store shelves by late october. But considering how little we know about this launch - I will likely be surprised no matter what. Lets hope for a good surprise.

PowerColor is already going to have them out by the start of October. So it won't be a surprise.

Usually the x2 cards are a bit after. Not really even expecting the 5870 by october 1. Just not enough leaks yet, but maybe ati has figured out a way to stop them.

Well I'm not talking about the x2. The 5870 will be out by October 5th at least. Because PowerColor is running a contest right now, and 3 winners get a $299 DX11 ATI card on October 5th.

For what it's worth, Powercolor's 4890 LCS edition cards weren't actually carried by anybody for about 2 weeks after they "came out." We'll see about the 5870 and X2's.

Yeah, I was hoping closer to $300 than $400 for the 5870. The idea of replacing my GTX 280 with a $250ish 5870 maybe a month or two after they came out was pretty appealing, but not so much at $400. I dunno, unless they actually do come close to a 4870 X2...

Honestly I think the next gen will look a lot like this gen was. 5870 will be roughly on par with GTX 360, but slower than GTX 380 (between GTX280 and GTX 295) but 5870x2 will def be faster than 380 at a slightly higher price point

And the GX2 will hold the crown again. I can see this happening, but nV isnt giving up any information on possible performance 🙁

I don't think it's so much confidence in NV as it just makes sense if it works out the way yh125d predicts. Of course, that is a big "IF" right now.

4850 crossfire is only slightly faster than the 4890, so I would hope that the 5870 would be quite a bit faster than that.

The X2 may be getting renamed from what I hear, but it will be delayed a couple/few weeks. I don't like mentioning numbers as everyone seems to have different ones but it has been mentioned that the 5870 is about 50% faster than a 285.

Don't get too hyped up over prices yet, I'm pretty sure they won't be that bad.
