Any risk of wiping a SSD with DBAN?

I'm about to give an old 30GB SSD of mine to a friend and want to wipe it securely before giving it to him.

Does it shorten the life if DBAN is used?

yes, it will shorten the ssd's life. you should secure erase instead.
