Any reviews/opinions on the 6lb whey protein sold at Costco?

Is it good quality? How's it taste? I always use optimum nutrition but I haven't used whey in a while and was fucking shocked to see it was $53 for 5 lbs! I remember when it was $25... :(

I bought Costco once, and didn't like it. Felt like it was very hard to mix - it would stay clumpy (I only use water and a knife to stir). I buy it online now - either 3*2lb containers at Walmart, or 5lb or 10lb containers from Amazon.

I love the stuff. Ive been using it for about 6-7 months. I use the vanilla in my breakfast smoothie and the chocolate for post workout shake. And for the price, it taste great.

I was reading something about heavy metals or something being found in a lot of powders when reviewed by readers digest or something. I wonder how this one is.

Cytosport? I bought the chocolate but I have no reference to other powders. I think it's too sweet but again, I have no reference point.

Muscle Milk was a huge culprit (the worst?), which is sold at costco, made by cytosport, the same company that makes the whey costo sells. Have to wonder about their whey.

I tried the cytosport whey from Costco a couple weeks ago and it was a complete disaster. Had a terrible after-taste, didn't mix well, gave me headaches, and left me sore.

I enthusiastically switched back to Syntha-6, paying up to buy it asap locally. Another cr@ppy one imo is body fortress from walmart. Both of these left me sore for days after a workout, where workout recovery with Syntha-6 was excellent.

Bottom line, it doesn't pay to skimp on protein supplements. If you find what works for you, stick with it.

It has an excellent protein profile and 2 grams of sugar, lol. It does have sucralose as most do. I can't speak for anyone else, but it's been excellent for me and night-and-day results from others mentioned here. And since when is 2g of sugar worse than high metal/inorganic arsenic content. ;)

14grams of "sugar", you're fooling yourself if you think those other carbs don't convert to sugar in your belly. The "protein profile" thing is a myth, whey is whey is whey. You're paying money for the waste product of the dairy industry. As long as it doesn't give you the shits from containing too much lactose it's all basically the same thing.

The consumer reports article was garbage. Everything you eat contains stuff that is bad for you. If I recall correctly the worst offender on that list still contained less heavy metals than your average serving of chicken breast.

Edit: Holy shit just checked the label again and now Syntha-6 contains soy? Overpriced garbage.

It has 5g of fiber, you could at least subtract that from your asinine sugar claim. 10g sugar AT BEST, the Fiber in Syntha-6 is a nice addition, most whey proteins don't have any. And protein isn't protein, whey isolate's will be much better than a concentrate. And any protein that's blended will have benefits. Syntha has Casein which is great to take before bed because it's slow releasing. Also has Egg Albumin which is a good addition to just having Whey.

Whey's great post workout, Casein's great before you go to bed. Synth 6 has both and tastes phenomenal. It's one of the better proteins out there imho.

The cheap stuff from Wal-Mart is like that. Solution! Mix it as good as you can with a knife. Let it sit (I put it in the fridge) for 15+ minutes. That 15+ minutes gives time for water to pentrate all those clumps. Give it a quick mix. Done.

whey is whey is whey ....

I think when I was reading about protein sources, that whey had a bioavailability that ranged from 100-150. Meaning not all whey is the same.

And I just Googled "whey bioavailability". Many articles appear stating exactly this.

Any mix whey with milk instead of water for extra calories?

I mix mine with 8th Continent Complete Vanilla Soy Milk. Stuff has a bunch of added goos stuff in it. With the fiber it has + Syntha-6 I get 30% of my daily fiber in 1 shake. Proteins imho all taste better with Milk or Soy Milk. A few times when I was trying to rack up calories I used Half N Half or heavy cream.

Musclepharm Cookies N Cream Combat with 8th Continent + a small squirt of Hershey Chocolate Syrup is *&^$@(! delicious

With all this talk on fiber, ever think to use benifiber in sshakes to get extra fiber?

I used to mix with milk but trying to cut back some calories so Ive gone back to water. I will agree that mixing with milk makes them all so much better.
