Any requirements for Cisco, A+, MSCE certificates?

By that I mean, do I need to take a certain number of hours in a course (if so where?) or can I just study on my own and just take a test?

Do you by any chance know of any websites or places where I may register to take the test?

Thanks in advance.

You have to take it in person at a registered facility. CHeck your local area for computer training places. Most of them offer the tests.

2 brain cells, friction and a credit card (altho cash works well too) will get you into the exam...passing it is a whole different ball game

Microsoft Training Site

Pearson-Vue

Prometric

You can study for Microsoft exams on your own. I buy a couple of textbooks, read them, practice using simulated networks or my own servers, and take the exams. It typically took me about two months of reading and practice to pass a Microsoft certification exam.

That is not completely correct regarding the Cisco certifications. You dont have to take a certain number of hours in a course, but there are some pre-reqs attached to some of the exams.

For the entry level CCNA and CCDA, there are no pre-reqs and you can take them at any time.

For CCNP, CCIP, CCVP, and CCSP you must have a valid CCNA certification.

For CCDP, you must have a valid CCNA and CCDA certification.

CCIE does not have any pre-reqs attached to it.

Anything CC*P has multiple exams that you must pass to get the certification, and the same goes for MCSE.

I took a look at Prometric.com and they have so many different tests for Cisco and so many different tests for Microsoft. Now which one should I get in order to have the best job opportunity?

Depends on what you want to do...

Want to fix computers for a living? A+

Want to go into networking? CCNA or CCDA to start

Want to focus on systems (a la Microsoft)? MCSE

I hope you're taking a look at the vendor websites for the certifications, and not just signing up blind....

Cisco's certification site is http://www.cisco.com/go/certification

From that site you gave me, there are 6 different types of CCNA. Should I go for Routing and Switching? It is similar for MCSE except they have a lot more sub categories and I'm not sure which one is best.

There's only 1 type of CCNA. The 6 different types you see are just the concentration areas that you can choose down the road of your career path.

The CCNA is either one or two tests...you have a choice to take everything in one exam or break it out into two. I'm not sure if CCDA is the same or not.

MCSE, and all the CC*P certs are composed of multiple tests. I think at least 5 for all of them. So yes, it is expensive.
