Any reports on the elusive E0/R0 stepping?

heard some people claiming vast amounts of OC result from this new E0 stepping like 5-6Ghz on air. So anyone here has any facts on this one? heard the new e8500s are 100% E0.

EDIT1: Googled a bit came up with the following:
New steppings are now available.
Yorkfield C1 went for E0 stepping, Wolfdale M0 went for R0.

E0 introduces new power states (C2E, C3, C4 called as Extended Stop Grant State, Deep Sleep State, Deeper Sleep State), changes in PECI implementation, new two instructions added, halide free package and some other minor changes as well.

I heard they do 7-8ghz and you dont even need a heatsink if you place it near an open window.

Is that on Pluto? :p (I don't know if it'd work though since Pluto doesn't have air)

with a time distortion field you can get 20ghz easy...

then again

http://www.overclock3d.net/new...erclocked_to_4_86ghz/1

"E0 stepping E8400 aircool overclocked to 4.86Ghz"

Engineering sample, but they did not increase the multiplier to OC... interesting.
510 mhz clock with 9x multiplier...
And 1.52 volts? that is above what is considered safe, it will degrade the CPU and it will eventually die. Still, pretty fucking impressive.

And we don't know if it is stable, or how much power it consumes... but it does show some nice OC potential.

Remember ES chips aren't unlocked like the Extreme chips, they are only unlocked in terms of being able to reduce the multiplier (just like a non-extreme chip) but you can't raise the multiplier.

okey im gonna say this one more time.

And PLEASE LISTEN FOR ONCE!

THAT IS A STEPPING A CPU.

Stepping A cpu's DO NOT follow normal overclocking rules, AND NEVER WILL.

You know what? Those only come in ES. And you know what else? THERE NEVER FOR SALE.
