People that slam things might have anger issues and would be less likely the type of people to take kindly to that note. You can still try maybe talking to them to get an idea of what they are like.
Some people are just fucking noisy. I live above a business and my bedroom is below their 2 back doors. When some of them go in or out they will slam both freaking doors and I know for a fact the one door can be shut with my pinky so there is no need for it to be slammed. I'm pretty sure the other door is the same way because the owner is usually quiet when coming and going on the weekends. I could read into it that they are doing it on purpose but the fact is some people just slam doors instead of shutting them normally. It's funny, I moved in to this top floor apartment to avoid noise but the situation is the tenants below me are apparently magicians. They've figured out a way to make it sound like THEY are living above ME. It sounds like retaliatory thumping but I try to be quiet and I'm not sure what is really going on here. I mean, obviously, living above them, whenever I walk around I am walking on their ceiling. Maybe they are pissed about not having the top apartment?
How about manning up and ohhhh I don't know, talk to them in person about the issue? They're going to think that you're a timid passive aggressive little person and have no qualms about continuing their behavior since you don't seem to have the cajones to speak to them in person.
Think I'll just start by emailing the landlord. "The tenants in E-8 are quite noisy. I hear it a lot and I live above them. Have the tenants below them had a similar complaint? Just trying to guage if this is a normal amount of noise for this apartment complex."
