Any repercussions to leaving an anonymous note like this on neighbors door?

They might not take a note like that seriously. Do they have any pets you can decapitate and leave by their door with the note pinned to it?

It's funny, I moved in to this top floor apartment to avoid noise but the situation is the tenants below me are apparently magicians. They've figured out a way to make it sound like THEY are living above ME. It sounds like retaliatory thumping but I try to be quiet and I'm not sure what is really going on here. I mean, obviously, living above them, whenever I walk around I am walking on their ceiling. Maybe they are pissed about not having the top apartment?

People that slam things might have anger issues and would be less likely the type of people to take kindly to that note. You can still try maybe talking to them to get an idea of what they are like.

I find the only way these notes really work is if you impale a dead crow between the note and their door, using an old rusty railway spike to stick it there.

That's why I haven't talked to them yet, I'm not trying to get punched in the face over this. It sounds like angry thumping.

Think I'll just start by emailing the landlord. "The tenants in E-8 are quite noisy. I hear it a lot and I live above them. Have the tenants below them had a similar complaint? Just trying to guage if this is a normal amount of noise for this apartment complex."

Some people are just fucking noisy. I live above a business and my bedroom is below their 2 back doors. When some of them go in or out they will slam both freaking doors and I know for a fact the one door can be shut with my pinky so there is no need for it to be slammed. I'm pretty sure the other door is the same way because the owner is usually quiet when coming and going on the weekends. I could read into it that they are doing it on purpose but the fact is some people just slam doors instead of shutting them normally.

How about manning up and ohhhh I don't know, talk to them in person about the issue? They're going to think that you're a timid passive aggressive little person and have no qualms about continuing their behavior since you don't seem to have the cajones to speak to them in person.

At least talking to them face to face and saying it is pretty loud where we live and would appreciate it if you could control it a little might be a good start.

Open carry and landmines after that.

meh people who are used to slamming stuff tend to take this personally because they've always done it that way, it's part of who they are, it's part of a whole macho-complex that compensates for their penis.

I'd just deal with it, and exercise my liberty of not trying to be quiet on their ceiling. You've been liberated. You owe those people nothing, so enjoy your new foumd freedom.

"hey, neighbor, just wondering if I cause too much noise your you guys. No? Okay, because there are times there is banging from your apartment that sounds like you're mad about the noise I may be making. Know what that might be from?"

Not hard really.

Landlord: "hey, the tenant above you is complaining that you are making a lot of noise"

Nothing bad can come of that.

This reminds me of a show that used to be on tv called bad neighbors or something like that. One was a lady in an apt where the next door lady was literally mentally disturbed. Had fits of yelling and raging for hours a day despite she lived alone and talking to her about it apparently caused even more strange trouble to occur. Sounded like a nightmare.

It depends - are they assholes? If yes, they will slam the door harder and even leave a note to your note. Like; "To the coward pinko communist scum who is trying to make me live MY life how they see fit - get fucked."

I would 1st approach them and in a friendly manner, tell them to go soft on slamming the door. Unless you an anti-social / socially awkward, I can see why you would not like to take this approach.
