I have a little money I want to invest, but am not ready to lock into anything long term. maybe I should just get some cd's from my bank?

edit: for spelling, damn my typing sucks

I would just go for a good ole saving account, or even a checking account with interest (since you are dropping in 5k you could likely get some sort of % back). With that money you will then have opportunities to make more than the measley % you could if it were tied up completley.

What is your goal? More return = more risk.

If you don't want to hold for 5 years, you need something with a fixed return, like a cd. You could also do TIPS.

Roth-IRA? Why not start a roth-IRA?

If you go with CDs, I'd recommend classics like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and The Who. Whatever you do, don't blow $5K on Ashlee Simpson and Nick Carter CDs! Worst. Investment. Ever.

Funny...i don't think he asked for spelling advice. Let me guess you've been picked on all your life and now play internet spelling cop?
